Man killed in Mission Hill feared for his life, mom says

Luis Bodden-Maximo had spent the last two months of his life looking over his shoulder, fearing that any day could be his last, the young man’s grief-stricken mother said Sunday.
Unfortunately, his worst fear came true last week when the 23-year-old was gunned down in the middle of the afternoon in a busy Stop & Shop parking lot in Mission Hill in what police described as a gang-related murder.
“I tried everything I could possibly do to save him,” Bodden-Maximo’s mother, Melinda Bodden, 42, said in a phone interview. “It’s like he didn’t have a chance to be a better person.”
Bodden said her son had recently completed a several-year stint in prison for possession of a Class B substance. He was working on turning his life around, Bodden said, noting he had snagged a job at a Cheesecake Factory and a Starbucks. But the streets wouldn’t let him leave, she said.
